How good is this laser/radar detector?

In retrospect if it really does normally cost $130 it's time to break out the old credit card and make an online purchase!

Bump - come on people. I can't find out what model number it is from whistler-radar.com. It looks similar to the DE1785 but I can't tell for sure.

That's not saying much, considering what I've heard about you...

From hot-deals.org

Good deals on radar detectors through October 27: Brand new FCC regulations on radar detectors will begin on October 27 (one week away). The new FCC regulations require all radar detectors sold in the US after October 27 to comply with rules that limit the interference with certain satellite systems used for operations like satellite data transfer. Most stores have already stopped selling older model radar detectors and will only offer the new ones, but after Oct 27 all radar detectors sold must comply with the new standards. If you don't care about this and all you want is a hot deal, some incredible deals can be found within this week on companies that are liquidating their older model radar detectors, such as from Buy.com (RX5000 and RX2000). However understand that all inexpensive radar detectors that you purchase within the next few days are discontinued models.

So basically after a week it's illegal to use it. Thanks for pointing this out to us !

No, not illegal to use.

Illegal to sell after Oct 27th.

HUGE difference.

Just like pre/post ban ammo clips.

Whisler and Cobra consistently score at the bottom of all those same tests that the Escort Passports and Valentine Ones win.

This is a Whisler of some sort. Don't waste your money.

Ok that's what I read the first time, and then I re-read and it said that all has to comply, not just ones sold. I don't know where my eyes made that up though. So this seems like a hot deal - imported are there any other ones that are cheap now?

Whistler is actually a very good brand. For that price you can't go wrong.

I persoanll own an Escort, and will be getting a Phazer II later this month.

What about the PNI RX5000 for $39?

Just remember, in most cases you get what you pay for. I wouldn't go so cheap, if you know what I mean?

Also, its been posted that new FCC rules will go into affect after 27th. You may want to wait till then, or just buy a detector that complies.

When I buy a detector (though I haven't since my Escort) I usually buy by brand (trusted brands). BEL, Escort and Whistler are the top on my list, with BEL and Escort being my most trusted.

Yes, on the Whistler because it's a brand I've used. I have no idea about PNI.
