How good is the onboard vid of a 815e???

I have an old 4mb matrox mystique video card, and was wondering which would be better (i815 is a CUSL2).

Also, on a side note, how the hell do i fix memory leaks in IE? I notice that after browsing the web, a large portion of my memory stays in use and it doesnt clear out on its own...

The i752 graphics are capable of running Quake3 fastest 640x480, I dont think the Matrox Mystique can do that.

Actually, HardOCP just did an article on onboard video. I haven't looked at it, it may just be a comparison between VIA & Intel. But it might have some helpful info.

oh yea, i have a celeron 600@900mhz if that affects the onboard vid performance in any way.

It will only affect the performance of the video card in CPU limited applications. I seriously doubt you'll be CPU limited at anything above 640x480x16, though, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just out of curiousity, if you're running a 900 MHz CPU... WTF dont you just get a cheap TNT2 or even TNT2 Vanta board for a while?

You can pick up a 16 MB Vanta for $50-60, & while they're not screamer, they're an acceptable board for tight-budget gaming. I ran one for quite a while before picking up my GF2 GTS.

I agree with Viper. Why don't you buy a TNT2 Vanta or M64 instead of using that onboard vid-BS...

vanta or v3 2k, defintely v3 2k, especailly you can oc it up to 3k level.

meanwhile, the onboard vid can play q3 low res ok. (I got i810 366cele, can do Q3 640X16bit normal setting) but I think it kinda dumb to throw in another 50 bucks for a mediocre card.
