don't the back and forward buttons... they made them to small..... other then that the sizr and shape are far superior... much more comfortable design IMHO

i never liked the microsoft buttons too much on any of their mice. this one is the same. but if you have liked them in the past then there's nothing to worry, they just always seem too "flimsy" to me. my dualoptical mouseman's buttons are solid and feel that way when depressed. but both mice in my opinion are great and have great refreshs. any one of those mice for gaming are my choices.

They are sweet, but with mice its a personal preference, some people like stiff buttons some don't. One thing to note is that I found using this more comfortable without a wristpad because they make you hold the mouse differently, also get a nice smooth mousepad that your fingers can slide accross, trust me on this one especially if you have big hands, this was less of a problem with the huge 1.0 version. Also the back/forward buttons are better placed then the 1.0 version but still not quite right for me.

Any of the office stores or electronic superstores should have what you're looking for. Staples even has them.

I have the Explorer 1.0 and I just ordered a 3.0. The 1.0 is really different than any other mouse I have used but I liked it after getting used to the feel of it. I liked the larger side buttons on the 1.0 than the 3.0 but I'm hoping that I'll get used to the new design since I have not seen the 1.0 around except in the two stores you mentioned(which sell for more than the 3.0 version).

what you should do is go ahead and get the 3.0 since you can't wait. then in the process, take it up with microsoft warrantee via emails and they will replace your old 1.0 with a new 3.0 since those are out (i helped a friend replace one just recently, and the csr told me that the 1.0 were d/c so they will be sending a 3.0 instead). but g'luck to you.

Agreed. I RMAed an Intellimouse 1.0 two months ago, and got a Intellimouse 3.0 as a replacement. It's smaller, and the back/forward buttons are hair-trigger sensitive. If the "feel" is very important, I would recommend just going to Compucentre or somewhere and just hold the floor model in your hand.

But you know, they delivered my new mouse in three days, and they don't require you to send the old one back, so why not just issue the RMA, tough it out for 3-5 days with the old mouse, and then receive an Intellimouse 3.0 for free? If you really hate it, just sell it.

The fifth mouse button is too far forward so you have to reorient your hand to thumb it. on the Optical it's on the right side which I prefer. But the 3.0's feel is better overall.
