How good is the Gainward GeForce 2 MX-400

I would not recomend any of the MX-400's. If your looking for a good inexpencive card I'd recomend at the lowest lvl the GF2 Ti cards. Better yet would be a GF3 Ti 200 or one of the Radeon cards.

According to benchmarks the MX line is the fastest budget card you can buy right now, with Nvida's new drivers. You can find them for a song which makes them a steal! I got one for $29.00 and for anything close to that price it's well worth it. I do agree that if you are going to spend over $60.00 you should hunt down a GeForce 2 GTS for close to that because it will perform better.

mikable and Om are correct, If you were willing to spend $60 on an MX do yourself a favor and waste an extra 20-30$ for an $80-100 GF2 Ti 64MB, they run stock just under what the old GF2 Ultras ran but with OC you can get them faster, Gainward sells a decent contingent with various speed ram and TV IN/OUT options. Buying an MX is like buying an Intel socket 423 motherboard, it's a deadstick with no real future potential...

The thing is so extremely obsolete, you shouldn't buy one for more than $30. NewEgg.com has good prices on GeForce2Ti and other newer cards, for very little.
