turion is better thna a p4 by far, better than a celeron by far, and not as fast as a pentium m(otherwise known as centrino). a turion is just a venice(Amd Athalon 64) built for low power consumption and socket 754.

Best to Worst(General scale)
Pentium M
Athalon X2
Athalon FX/Opteron
Athalon 64/Turion
Pentium 4
Sempron
Celeron D
Transmeta(throttles, the 1ghz rated models will throttle to 833mhz no matter what even under normal computing conditions.)
AMD Geode(rare, extremely mobile x86 processor)

thats "Athlon"

:p

for general purpose, the X2's and D's are better than the Pentium M. Hell, for general purpose, a p4 HT is better than an M or a64.

it all depends on what you are using this chip for, for general websurfing, chatting, maybe some CPU intensive tasks anything will be good. for heavier multitasking, an X2 is best, Pentium D is second, an a P4 HT is after the D. then, all the single core variants come in, with (IMO) the a64 coming first(turion is included her), p-m coming second, followed by p4b, then aXP... ect

for gaming, A64/X2 and Pentium M rule all.

i was assuming he would be talking about gaming performance since for general websurfing, there is no need to ask this question and for heavy multitasking with say photoshop and encoding, a laptop is far from the ideal platform in the first place.

yea well all i do is multitask a little, mostly websurfing with like 15 mozilla tabs open sometimes, and aim open and word processing and about 1500 songs for my ipod, and install my own virus protection and spyware/adaware software, etc, so the 80 gig HD on this baby will be fine as well. I am lovin this machine, especially the screen, SO WIDE!
