How good is the 2D on the nForce built in chip?

Question is in the title. I'm building computers for my dad's office and I need to know if the nForce's built in video (MSI K7N420 Pro) is plagued by the 2D problems of normal GF2 cards. It doesn't have to be real good, just not terrible. I don't really mind my Hercules GF2 Pro, but if it gets worse with the on-chip stuff then there will be problems.

Thanks,
Swan

It's acceptable, nothing especially good and it'll pale compared to any quality 2D card, but for most people at typical resolutions it's perfectly adequate. IMHO it's a touch better then the 2D quality that PNY, MSI, Hercules, Creative and other typically lower quality 2D GF2 cards can offer.

If your happy enough with your Hercules GF2 Pro, then I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the nForce.

Ok, thanks. It's for mostly computer illeterate employes, so I'm sure they aren't going to be running 1600x1200 even like I do. It will be a Samsung 955DF 19 incher, but probably a low res.

Thanks,
Swan

2D image quality doesn't depend on the graphics chip much, it's more about how much care the board designers have taken in handling the analog output signals. So the question actually would have to be about a certain mainboard, not the integrated-video chipset itself.

Right. That's why I specified the motherboard. MSI K7N420 Pro:)

I think the 2d is fine on my K7N420, i would go as far as to say as it was as good as the Radeon LE i was using before i got this board.
Im running at 1024x768 on no name el-cheapola monitor (soon to change).
For everyday office work it would be fine!

You are of course correct, I suppose I should have specified that I was referring specifically to the K7N420 Pro in my original post.
