I want to buy a new monitor. A 21" with a reasonable price. Princeton Graphics EO2005 is the one I like. Is it a good one to purchase?

I've got a Princeton Graphics EO750 "17 monitor (the EO 750 is actually discontinued now) and I'm happy with it. The refresh rates are incredible, I run the desktop at 800x600 @ 140hz and game at 640x480 @ 160 hz. The colors are also very rich with my Voodoo3 3000, because you can adjust the sliders in the video card settings.

Please note that it is a shadow mask and not an aperture grille. That means you do not get the faint horizontal lines across the screen, but may get a bit of a cheese cloth effect (or is that just due to my Voodoo?). The picture is very sharp and the on screen display lets you tweak tons of settings, like the color temperature (use 6400k, which was not the default, but should be!).

I'm happy with my EO750. The EO 2005 looks like a winner too.

I haven't worked in the hardware world for a couple years, but the pinceton Graphics line used to be the budget line with MAG as the upper or middle line. They were good monitors for the price, but MAG was still better. I'm a little conserned that Walmart sells MAG now, but then Walmart also sells high end home use HP printers, scanners and systems.

Princeton Graphics offers a variety of products for all ends of the spectrum. The EO750 is basically the top of the line "17 shadow mask monitor; the specs on it were so great that they discontinued it because they figured it was over-kill for a "17 shadow mask monitor.

The EO2005 looks like a top of the line "21 shadow mask monitor. If you want to go the shadow mask route, I don't htink you could find a better monitor. The video bandwidth ("dot clock") is 270mhz. Try to match that.
