My friend needs to spend less than $200 on a rig that can play games. He already picked up a 2600+ barton and nforce 2 spp mobo, but I might suggest him to ebay the nforce 2 spp and pick up a nforce 2 igp mobo on sale at newegg. He needs to play call of duty/ ut2k4/ and older games. The resolution and detail is not that important, just as long as the frame rate is suitable.

used ti4200 for $40ish would be perfect.

the IGP won't handle those games too well, but i suppose it'd be ok at 640x480.

The IGP is equivelent to about a Gf4 MX420 range in dual channel mode. A good Ti4200 or even an 8500 would be a good starting point. I have a friend who has no problems playing the COD demo with his IGP and 2400+ @ 800x600 and it looks ok.

A good MX440 or even a Radeon 7500 can usually be had for $30-$35 in the FS/Trade. That would allow him to putz around till he got something better.

Get the regular NF7 (or NF7-S) and a Ti4200/4400/4600 or Radeon 9500pro. It will be worlds better.
