How good is audio recording on my Rebel T3?

Hi, I'm a complete noob at sound recording and I'm currently using my Rebel T3 to create phone reviews, but there is a lot of background noise when I try to talk, so I just delete the audio track and use my friend's Zoom H4N to record the audio.

Because he can only lend it to me for about 3 hours, its very hard to record it all, so I was wondering whether there was any software I could use to improve the speech quality to podcast levels? Or will my phone be better for audio recording?
