How good/awful was Thor?

I enjoyed it. As a comic book fan, I was happy with the story, and thought the main actor was good as Thor.

also true. whats the point of having an "actor" then to play the lead role? you might as well hire an orator for just reading the lines.

that would be a boon for all movie loving fans. i think they cried enough for the first hulk. they couldnt do worse, but they didnt do any better with ed norton's hulk

Thor was good, but not great. Not as good as the original Iron Man, but better then spider-man 3.

Thor 2 is already in the plans, and from I read will be released in 2013.

I suspect that the Thor movie was more for character development and plot building more then anything else. The Avengers movie will continue to build from the Thor movie and expand the marvel universe.

As much as I liked Thor, the ending was a letdown. I would have liked to seen Thor find Captain America, like in the comics. And then Captain America start with Thor finding Cap frozen in ice. That way the 2 movies would have been tied together.

I didn't think it was good nor bad. It did an alright job of being a mindless action movie. The effects were pretty good but didn't stand out from the crowd. The story was simplistic and the acting was average at best. There were a few moments I really enjoyed, mainly when Thor first encountered Earth culture (slamming his coffee mug on the ground).

Overall I'd only give it a 4 or 5 out of 10. I do not really care about comic book characters so my only concern is whether they made a good movie out of it, and I think Thor was too wrapped up in laying the foundation for more movies and didn't do enough to make itself a good movie in its own right.

i think they should make a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie. I really enjoyed the Dolph Lungdren one when i was 12 years old. I would probably have enjoyed Thor too if I was 12.

Good movie for a comic book movie. You can't come at it expecting it to be something like Shawshank Redemption or some super high brow type flick. It is an excellent fun action flick and has some humor tossed in and doesn't try to be something it isn't.

I think the problem is all the people that say it sucked are expecting it to be something more than it is.

everyone is using this as an excuse.

i argue that movies like the Batman Return, The Dark Knight, Spiderman 1, Spiderman 2, Watchmen are all examples of comic book movies which had good acting, super script, plenty of action, healthy dose of humor, intensity, all while keeping pretty close to the actual comic book.

Thor failed on all fronts. Even worse, it had a super cast. Heck, I would rate it in the cheesiness and cliche factor of Batman and Robin.

This is Thor: "Let me stand up to the Destroyer. After he hits me really hard (which should have killed a mortal), Jane will come kiss me and then Mjolnir will see I am worthy. The hammer will fly up into the sky, there will be a stupendous amount of circling winds, and then I will wake up with full body armor"

Yeah..
when Thor infiltrates that secret service camp setup to study that Hammer.

He was put on standby to kill Thor if he comes close to that hammer..

Also,
it didn't react because she kissed him; it reacted because he sacrificed himself. He acted in a selfless manner knowing the only way he could save everyone was to let the Destroyer kill him.

Personally, my least favorite parts about the film were
his transition from being arrogant to umm... not arrogant, and the poorly done love aspect.

Pretty spot on. I hated that too.
