These. I'm getting a new iPod on Friday (I hope) and am quick to toss out the included headphones. My grado sr60s are probably too goofy for subway use and I can't afford to replace the etyonomic (sp?) er4is that I destroyed by stepping on soo..yeah.. How good are these? Worth the $40? I was thinking about getting the sony mdr-ex71s again but I remember those 'buds giving me headaches due to their weirdly muddy sound.. SooO.. how good are these apples? I'm buy my 'pod from the apple store so it would be easy to pick up these headphones as well.

Thanks!

No. I would get the sony ex-71's. You can get them in white, if thats what you want and they sound better and fit more comfortably than the apple in ears.

You could try some lightweight but more conventional headphones like the Sennheiser PX100s (~$50). They aren't sealed, though, so you'd have to keep volume down a bit.

reviews are sorta mixed so i would really be wary. There are other great headphones other then them, shop around.

same ones i've got... they're great, especially for the price... i haven't heard shure or entomyotic (sp?) but i've got a set of pretty good sennheiser full size headphones and they're awesome (HD570)... anyways, all i can say is that i wouldn't buy apple headphones, the fact that the ones they've been including with ipods for so long and they sound so rediculously bad astounds me. the first thing i did when i got my ipod was to throw the headphones that came with it directly in the trash

Under $50 - Try the Sony EX71/81. Panasonic HJE50 are also worth a listen.

$50-$100 - Etymotic Research ER6i, Shure E2, Ultimate Ears super.fi 3.

$100+ - Ultimate Ears super.fi 5, Shure E4/E5

Well that's all that matters.
