How good are remanufactured print cartridges?

Here's the deal. My wife needed me to recommend a printer for her office. After what she told me what it would be used for and how much, we decided on a Lexmark Z52. The printer works great. The problem is she blows through a black cartridge a month (about 12 since it was bought) and never had to replace the color one.

Has anybody used remanufactured cartridges and do they print as good as the OEM ones? They are about half the price.

They suck. We've had departments at my work go with remanufactured once in a while and they leak and jsut cause a big headache. Those ink cartridges are made to be used once and thrown away. They aren't made to be refilled, although they may work, they are built to be used once.

If she's using a cartridge a month, you'll definatly save money in the long run by going with a laser printer. We paid ~$300 for our HP, and that was about 7 years ago. It's worked GREAT ever since, and I'd be surprised if we used 6 toner cartriges since we bought it (probably do 1-5 pages a day with it).
