NewEgg has a 100 pack for $23. Anybody with firsthand experience with them?

That's not even a good price. Get a few spindles of Fuji from Best Buy or Circuit City or wherever. They're usually made by Taiyo Yuden and everyone says they make the best discs. Last I check they were like $13 for 50 and every once in a while they go on sale for like $2 after rebate.

Gah! I remember when Pengo was all about pushing ice blocks and squashin' sno-bees!
Line up them there diamond blocks now, boy! I like the purty stars.

I feel old.....

I usually try to go with slightly more expensive CD-Rs. Not necessarily because they last longer, but I have had some compatbility problems with certain CD players and certain media. Memorex is usually who I try to choose at this point, as I have never run into any problems with them. I have had problems with Fuji and generic brands before. I have no personal experience with Pengo in paritcular though.

I once burned a single Pengo a friend gave me. It burned, I read from it, it sits on a shelf.

I always tried to get high quality CDRs, mostly Mitsui. My last stack were ProDisc (?) generic (shiny red!) , and though they scratch easier than the Mitsuis, they worked, too.

If you want to archive data, get a better disc. But for everyday transfer or storage needs, most will work fine.
