How good are MSI motherboards?

I"m going to be building my new DDR system around the first of the year, and I've decided that I want the utmost stability. I will not be overclocking; I will more than likely buy around a 1 GHz T-bird and upgrade it to a Palomino once those are released at sufficient clock speeds . . .

So I saw this link, and it looks good. Plenty of expandability for memory, good layout.

MSI boards are the rock! I've used several of them and have had very good results. This should be no different. Right now the MSI K7T Pro2 and Pro2a are the most popular choice and most stable. Anand uses MSI boards in his servers. 🙂

MSI makes extremely stable motherboards. Every MSI motherboard I've used was very stable and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a stable computer!

Right now they are at the top, great stability, quality, & very low RMA rate plus great BIOS update support so a great package.Btw my own (first MSI board)MSI K7T PRO is rock solid.

🙂

I would recommend MSI boards EVERYTIME. They are rock solid, stable as all get out, low RMA, yada, yada, yada (see other's comments below).

I have built roughly 25 boxes in the last year or so and very MSI board, 12 of them has been a winner. Cannot say the same for ABIT and ASUS. Epox has also worked well with friends of mine and I 'hear' SOYO is inching up towards the level of fineness currently possessed by MSI (though they could improve their PCB layouts).

I really like MSI boards when they work (like my BXMaster), but be very careful when they don't (like my 815E Pro). You will not be able to get ahold of MSI for customer service, they will NOT respond to e-mail. They have some of the worst Customer Service you can find. They must put all their money into development... Just return any MSI item you have problems with to the retailer (make sure they are a good retailer before you buy from them, glad I purchased from Onvia, no problem returning it to them, just took a little while to get the credit on my card.)

I don't have much experience with MSI, being that the 815E Pro i was working with for my GF was crap and refused to work correctly... none of the bios's hooked up, none of the fuzzy logic versions worked, and the bios was limiting in terms of overclocking... i have seen many good reviews, but from personal experience, i would steer clear of MSI, I'm an ABIT guy myself although i have also had good experiences with ASUS

Sounds like a user problem Ive used alot of boards and the MSI without a doubt is the most stable.ASUS ABIT etc.Got a KT7 but it took 2 boards to get a good one.

I can only vouch for my 2 MSI-6309 boards with the Via 133A chipset, and they are awesome. Overclock great, rock solid, maybe have some memory limitations due to the chipset, but I don't even notice them in what we do. Highest recommendation I can give. I don't know about support, because my two boards have worked great out of the box and I haven't needed any. For that matter does ANY motherboard manufacturer actually respond to E-Mails or inquiries? At least MSI doesn't charge you $25 to return a defective board like Abit. And with MSI, it is highly unlikely that you will get a defective board (don't know about the 815E boards that others have commented negatively about).
