How good are KDS and Sotec Laptops?

I found these two deals online for laptops, except I haven't heard much about these companies. Can anyone fill me in?

Well...

I've never heard of Sotec.

I've never bought a KDS laptop, but have purchased alot of KDS monitors, including 2 that have been working with no problems for over 4-5 years.

yea dont know about the paptops but KDS makes great moniters. and they are cheap

I'll vouch for KDS monitorwise at least. In-laws have a 19" flat crt and I have a 19" lcd by them.
I do remember hearing some problems a while back about their 17" trinitron monitors though.

Oh and don't buy from Tigerdirect. Actually you may want to check for sale/trade. I think I saw someone has a similarly configured dell 7500 for less than $500.

Sotec is the equivalent of eMachine of Japan. I think they might even be the same company, the all-in-one computer eMachine produced a few years ago was sold under Sotec in Japan. My dad and sister both have Sotec laptops, my dad has the PIII 1Ghz and my sister's is around the range of a Celeron 850 or something. Not the highest benchmarks but not too bad either, everything is about average and what you would expect for the price. Nothing has broken so far either.
