How good are Hitachi HDs?

I just got back a HDD from IBM/Hitachi. I sent an IBM Deskstar and I got back an Hitachi Deskstar.
Any opinion on them?

What is the model on the new drive? I hear the new Hitachi 7K250 drives really kick a$$...

They're fine. It's been a couple of design generations since the "deathstars" and they're now as good as any other brand.

You can look at storagereview.com for objective measurements and reliability surveys, or any of the "which brand?" threads here for more anecdotes 'n' opinions.

What I received is a brand new (NO REFURBISHED) Deskstar HDS722580VLAT20, 82.3 GB and for what I saw in differents web pages with a 8 ram buffer.

I think they call them Hitachi because IBM sucked.... 3 out of 3 IBM Desktars went bad on me within a year...no more IBM for me, even if they call them Hitachi....
