How good are Fuji's F40fd and F50fd?

The F40fd is an 8 MP replacement for the F20 series, so it's more of an entry level camera. Still has a SuperCCD though.

The F50fd is supposedly the replacement for the F31fd, but it's packing 12 MP into a similar sensor size, which to me signals poor high ISO performance.

Are either one of these cameras any good? I might be picking up a P&S soon since my EOS 40D is too big and heavy to carry around all the time...so it's either one of these or a Panny LZ series.

F50 compensates (tries to, anyway) by having image stabilization, whereas F40 does not.

I thought you already had a Panny?

Oh, and the Fuji's don't have full manual controls. I figure that's something you'd want...

I had an LZ8 but sold it when I got my 40D. Now I'm thinking I might want another P&S since the 40D isn't exactly something you can just carry everywhere.
