How good are dvd recorders?

I just got a PVR for christmas, and I'm not too pleased with it. It's the first one that is out in Canada and it can only have one feed at a time, so it's not what I'm looking for.

I dislike VCR's because it takes so long to scan through for the stuff I was looking for, and the quality is horrid.

I was thinking of buying a dvd recorder, how similar does it work to a vcr? And what are its benefits/disadvantages compared to a VCR and a PVR.

from what i've read they are decent. cheapest are from liteon.. like 200bux. i guess at ep 6hr it looks meh, but vhs is no better in that regard. so its basically just like a vcr😛

I have the Panasonic E-80 (the one with an 80gb hard drive) and it is tremendous. I bought it in May and went from using my VCR almost every day to a dozen or so uses in the last 7 months. With the hard drive it allows you to use the time slip feature (record live tv and play back at your own pace) and edit items you don't want (such as commercials) before burning them to dvd.

Don't know how good they are, but you guys need to hang out in Hot Deals a little more! 😉
