Should it be enough to play all the games coming out next year and half at 1024x768, 32bit, AA and Aniso turned on?

Although no one can say for sure, my guess is no. That is because of games like Doom3. I believe Doom3 will be like the original quake in which all computers needed an upgrade to the most current videocard in order to enjoy the new features (at the time, the Voodoo1). I think it will be the same this time, when Nvidia's, ATI's, and Matrox's next gen card will be the one to have inorder to fully enjoy the game.

The voodoo1 was the first 3d add on card out that I know of and therefore it was needed cause previously the pci cards out didn't have d3d, open gl and certainly not glide. I ran Quake without a 3d card at the time though, just not that well so it's not like we don't have a card that will do it, just might not do it as well as the latest offerings.

I would say that the Ti4400 will be good for the next year at least, possibly more. "If" Doom 3 comes out by then, I think it will run fine at 1024x768, maybe not with everything turned on, but who knows. I'm sure that they are taking into consideration that people will not upgrade a card just to play that one new game, they will have configurations for cards that even would make it run on a GF3.

no matter how fast a video card is, bad game engine kills gameplay.
Lately, there are a lot of examples: C&C renegade, gta3
I rather have the programmers to write better patches for their games
than pay 200+ dollars every 6 months to compensate their bad gaming engines.

u should be alright for the next year. if ur fps is getting hammered, take off AA and just use anisotrophic filtering.

Carmack says the GF4 Ti series will run Doom3 fine. All I want in Doom3 is 1024x768x32 at 60fps and I am positive a GF4 and something like an AthlonXP will do this easily. Most of the people here want 1600x1200x32 at 100fps, so you will always here "upgrade! upgrade!"

it depends how anal you are about it :)

NOTHING is future proof these days...Right now, it's the right price, however...I'm going to buy one soon.
