How friendly do you get with your interviewer?

I'm puzzled whether or not you can address an interviewer by his/her's first name, when s/he does so for you? I not sure whether it would be consider impolite to do so. 😕 Your insight?

But seriously...NEVER use their first name unless they SAY "no, call me Paul or whatever." It's very disrespectful and cocky.

If I was interviewing someone and they said: "So, Mike...what's the job really pay?" The interview would be short, indeed. 😛

So always their last name? What happens if you can't pronounce it?

Well, I should've been more specific. If you already know in advance the name of your interviewer, you say "good morning Mr. Smith." If you get told (email, maybe) that his name is Gyeyablerldls. Call someone and say "how the hell do you say that?"

If you can't pronounce the name, it's better to be honest and say: "Sir, could you please tell me how you pronounce your last name? I dont' want to butcher it!" And just smile.

I have a semi-difficult last name...I much prefer to be asked then to hear it butchered.
