Do you call people "man" or "dude" while you're at work? I do with some people...depends on how I guage the situation. One of my friends who works in marketing apparently calls people at work "dawg".

I just helped a bald guy who's probably in his late 30s with a computer problem and he said "thanks dude". I don't have a problem with it...it just took me off guard a little.

I was greeted this morning by a coworker saying "What's up f_cker?" That and I've got a six pack worth of empty beer bottles sitting right next to my laptop.

So uhhh...you make that call. :)

I'm casual with basically everyone at work except for Senior Manager & higher. We can get away with calling them by first name but thats about it.

Hearing "man" or "dude" is pretty common at my job.

A guy from Cisco's TAC in Research Triangle Park, NC told us that they drink beer at work sometimes. I was like WTF!

The running joke now is that group of guys may actually be working in Research Trailer Park, NC.

They can all speak english, I believe. I'm not sure because I haven't spoken to all of them.

Maybe they avoid speaking to me, I can always hope. I don't really care about the reason.

co-workers (guys) , "hey dude" or "hey i love you"

co-workers (young girls) , "hey baby"

co-workers (older ladies) , "hey you"

helpdesk associates , "what do you want? gimp?" not in those words, but we treat them like sub-human

'business customers' , dunno, only helpdesk people talk to the customers

It depends. If somebody is writing me a check, it's "Sir" or "Ma'am". Otherwise, it's whatever pops in to my head at the time.
