How fast would WinME be on this system?

Right now I run Win98 and my boot is 54s.

P83MHz 128k cache
24MB EDO
10mbps ISA network card (D-LINK DE220)
20.5GB Quantum Fireball+ LM
1MB Cirrus Logic ISA (on-board)

Should I run WinME on this? Or should I stick to '98? I don't want my boot time to be any worse, 54 seconds is bad enough, I wont stand for worse.

I thought Win2k,... but thhen again, 24MB of RAM would be impossibly laggy with Win2K. So I'm thinking WinME... since Win98 runs fine, maybe I should try WinME?

And what the hell is wrong with these crappy ass forums? I make a post, I refresh, and it dissapears!! Then I refresh again, and it has a reply! WTF is up with that?

Are you SURE it wont install at all without 32MB ... damn, I need to find another 16MB stick so I can have 32 instead of 24...
 
You also must have at least a 150MHz cpu. I tried to install on my P133 laptop & I got a message pop up saying I needed 150MHz.

hey man, i think you might want to put your jack into a new computer before you upgrade your OS... your computer seems really damn slow..

Jay, it's a 486 motherboard with a Pentium Overdrive processor at 83MHz.. it isn't really a "Pentium 83", there's no such thing as that 🙂

Damn Win98 with 8MB of RAM!? Are you absolutely INSANE? And a P75? that's worse than my P83!! Ok WINDOWS 95 would lag on a 75/8MB... I REALLY wouldn't advise putting Win98 on it!! The only reason Win98 is TOLERABLE on my system is because I have a nice Quantum hard drive 😀
 
I just finished the install, scratched around in my junk drawer and came up with another 16mb ram, and I overclocked the p75 to 120 🙂 threw in a win modem, and a cheapie sound card, sold him my old 24x cd drive, it aint too bad, he will be begging for a bigger hard drive soon though, the 620mb hard drive has about 100mb free 😛
 
So anyway I have a P83 and 24MB RAM, wouldn't WinME at least WORK? That makes no sense at all that it would just not work at all. Gotta be bullshiet.
