How fast should a winmodem connect?

OK I just bought this usr 56k winmodem. I know that the connect speeds depend on line quality, etc etc. But this winmodem won't connect above 32000 bps. Are there any special settings that I need to set for it to connect faster?

I used to connect at around 46000 with another winmodem on the same phone line...

i get from 45.2 46.6 to 48.0 all the time.. unless the ISP is having a problem!

I usually get 49-52 on my laptops winmodem. Try bumping the setting to 57600, its probably on 115k or so. You get better compatability.
