How fast should a parallel port in EPP mode be able to transfer data?

Mine is only receiving data at about 15k/sec. For some reason I thought it was supposed to be significantly faster than that. Is there some setting(s) that control the speed of the port, or is it just the particular program I am using? I am using an N64 gameshark that can connect to a PC, btw.

I don't have the specs in front of me, but I believe that it's either 1MB or 2MB/sec(forget if it's ECP or EPP). That said, the limitation is probably the Gameshark, not the port.
