How fast is this proc?

I know that AMD has been misleading in the past with the whole "P Rating" system. I'm not sure if this is a P-rated proc or not, but here is the number from the top of it:

AMD K6-2/400A

Thanks!

Your standard run of the mill K6-2 400MHz

Ok for office stuff but has a lousy FPU - THE reason why I got a Pentium2 back in the days.

One can only wonder why my brother didn't call me before making that post w/ my ID... He should know that I would know after I've built so many K6-2's 🙂

CyberZer0, sure, sure 🙂 That whole "brother" thing is getting out of hand. When we arrested you last night for drinking and driving, it was your "evil twin", too!

LOL

I swapped my K6-2 400 for a Celeron 300A, aside from the fact that it overclocked to 450Mhz, the Celeron walked all over the K6-2 at 300Mhz even. They are extremely weak in the FPU department and 3DNow! does little too help. I would say it is about as fast as a P2-233/266, which is fine for office apps/general Windows apps, but not good for CPU intensive tasks and games.

Even a Voodoo3 2000 was too much for a 500Mhz K6-2. The CPU was such a bottleneck, there wasn't *ANY* improvement with a Voodoo5 5500 PCI, OR a GeForce2 GTS.

BTW, a little factoid: He is my twin (really), though I'd call myself the evil one 😀
