I'm talking about the 3.0L 200 hp SOHC 24-valve V6 engine by Mitsubishi that is used in the Stratus. I checked Dodge's site, the Mitsubishi site, and Edmuds and Caproint without luck. What are the 0-60 and 1/4 speeds?

EDIT: I said Intrepid, meant Stratus

I thought the Intrepid R/T had more than 200HP and a bigger engine...

EDIT - yup, it's got a 242HP 3.5

Mid 7's 0-60, 15.4-15.6 in the 1/4 I think.

Nothing extremely fast, but ballsy enough to keep a slight edge.

I'd much rather get a used Contour SVT and mod it to all hell for the price they want on any R/T products...

Hey thats the same engine was used the the lower end 3000gt. Also, the small 6 used in the dodge caravan is the same engine, except only with 12 vavles. Gutsy engine, lotta potential.

The performance numbers are basically going to be the same as an Eclipse GT with a manual. Same engine, same chassis, as far as I know, same everything except the exterior.

Not sure about the exact numbers, though. I would guess mid-to-low 7's to 60.

bigsmooth, the engine's, despite the same size/power rating, are different. A lot of people think it has the same V6 that's in the Eclipse when it does not.

untrue. a stratus r/t can't hang with my eclipse gt unless i have a bad launch. the specs between the cars are very similar and we have a few stratus owners frequent us on the 3g eclipse forums, but the stratus does not perform as well as the eclipse. it's just a tad slower for some reason.

genocide, what is the difference? I am curious. Dodge's website says the Stratus R/T engine is manufactured by Mitsubishi, and I looked at the stats for each engine, and they were exactly the same:

3.0L V6
Engine Location FR
Number of Cylinders 6
Displacement Cubic Centimeters 2,972
Displacement (Cubic Inches) 181
Valves Configuration SOHC
Number of Valves 24
Horsepower Base 200
Horsepower RPM 5,500
Torque (lbs ft) 205
Torque RPM 4,500
Bore (in) 3.59
Stroke (in) 2.99
Compression Ratio 9

The only difference I could see in the two cars was SEFI vs. MPFI fuel injection systems.

TuffGuy, that is strange... the Stratus is about 60 pounds heavier but there must be some difference in the engine?

I wonder what the insurance difference would be between the R/T and the Eclipse. I think the Stratus would be *much* lower...they don't look like performance cars...

Elemental, adding R/T badging automatically jacks up the insurance =]

That doesn't necessarily matter...the Contour SVTs insurance is not much more than mine l4 130 hp....

When I was shopping for cars, Mitsubishi had some of the highest insurance rates of any make. Why, I don't know. Since the Stratus is an American car, the insurance would almost certainly be lower.

There is no automatic offered on the R/T. The "MT" and "AT" refer to Motor Trend and whatever the source of the other one is.

Well I've seen 7.4 0-60 on 2 sites now. Haven't found any solid 1/4 mile times.

You could test drive one easily, there is a new dodge dealership on Plano Parkway and Ohio. Hell I think I might go do that myself. :D

So from that data, it looks like the Eclipse is faster by about .3-.5 seconds to 60 and about .3 in the quarter as well. Slightly better slalom numbers too.
