How fast is the chess computer that recently played against Kasparov?

Near the bottom, it says '"With your brainpower, you challenged my Intel Quad Processor, Xeon 2.8 Mhz chip with four gigs of RAM," it said. "Not an easy task."'

Is that number right?

Plenty fast but I think the question is how many iterations the software's algorithm is running before it determines its next move.

That's why chess against a normal computer sucks, takes so long for it to make any moves :(

I think its more likely that the Mhz was supposed to be Ghz.

Considering Intel has never released a 2.8Mhz processor, much less on its flagship Xeon line, I will go ahead and say that this is the case.
