How fast is nforce 2 with single-channel ddr?

nforce 2 is the fastest athlon chip, now that kt400a seems like a bust. But since i have 2 256mb pc2700 sticks, i rather combine them to 512mb and use it in a dual channel setup. Is a single channel nforce 2 still very fast? I also noticed that due to athlon's bus constraints, it doesn't need the benefits of dual channel ddr, a single channel ddr should be ample bandwith. And when you OC the bus on the athlon, it OCs the memory bus as well. Am i right? Also, how is the nforce 2 at running async mem/cpu bus?
