I can't find any data on the 5spd. Like 0-60Mph and
1/4 mile time.

The 3.0 DOHC V6? I read somewhere that Lexus claims it'll do a 15.3 quarter mile. How much of that do I believe? Not a thing considering I sat next to the one I raced.

LoL

just because you sat next to one that raced dont mean it can't do 15.3
the driver could have sucked..

a person in an S2000 could get 17.3 18.3 if he don't know how to shift...

oh .. and I think people have either done the 15.3 or have done 15.1 stock on the IS300 ~ ..

Not very. And it has a I6 not a V6.

In terms of luxury RWD boy-racer vehicles, Lexus is the only one with a product, the IS300. However it is not *fast* when compared to the 330i, G35, etc..However it is a great fun to drive.

You must not have read that too good. If it shows that I'm running a 15.668 and I sat next to it, how do you figure I think it does a 15.3? I even stated I didn't believe it. I just like how my Cavalier hangs with V6s.

I've driven one. It doesn't feel very fast, and it's 0-60 time is pretty weak, around 7 seconds I think. The 330i and G35 feel faster by comparison. The IS300's clutch is of the short-throw variety and takes a little getting use to if you're use to a long-throw clutch (like in the Miata). Also, the IS300's shifter feels clunky; for example, gears 1-3-5 feel more spread out than 2-4 on the pattern, so I always thought I was downshifting into 2nd from 3rd instead of upshifting to 4th when I brought the hammer down. 1-2 shifts were not very smooth either during hard acceleration. Although I didn't drive one in the middle of the summer, I've heard the metal gearshift nob can get quite hot if the car sits in the sun for too long.

The IS300 suffers from a harsh highway ride with lots of wind and tire noise. In its favor, it has very tight handling, and I wish I could have thrown it through some tight corners, but was unable to do so.

In the Dec 2001 issue of Sport Compact car they did a full test on a 02 IS300 5spd... Here are the numbers:

Dyno'ed hp @ the wheels: 184hp, 196lb-ft torque

0-30: 2.5s
0-60: 7.4s
30-50: 2.8s
50-70: 4.2
1/4 mile: 15.3s
1/4 speed: 90.2mph

Slalom Speed (700ft slalom): 67mph

60-0 stopping distance: 125ft.

Just because your best is a 15.6, does not mean you run a 15.6 everytime.

I'm having a bit of a trouble believing that a 140 HP cavalier can do the 1/4 in 15.6
