I was doing 95+ in my 91 Lincoln Continental (with no functional speedometer). Looked over at the car next to me and saw their speedometer and immediately took my foot off the gas. Yeah, I'm a wuss.

Clocked at 127 and you got out of the ticket?! How did you manage that?

The ticket was an ordeal, I get at the foot of a bridge as the cop approached me (I had slowed already down to 70ish)....it was a long bridge and I waved to let him know i saw him, but he wanted me over then and now...anyways at the other foot of the bridge I pull over. I start getting yelled at about how I am supposed to pull over immediately and whatever....I explain that there was no shoulder on the bridge and that would be dangerous....I let him know that I work out with him and I had just spotted him the previous night, but he didn't recognise me at all (I was in suit and tie for the bank, and my hair was all neat)...I just dropped that line as he was being a real idiot about the whole not pulling over right away.

Then he says he clocked me at 127mph and I flew right past him (which was true he was hiding on the previous bridge's base. He said he could have me arrested and my car impounded....he gave me a ticket and was an idiot again (I don't remember the details, but I had admitted I was speeding and I was cooperating, he was just a d!ck).

So that night as I worked out and we all talked about our days (my night gym was more of a meat market type place)...the ladies mentioned the guy that gave me the ticket could probably get me out of it as he was a high level something or another....I told them he was the one that GAVE it to me. They were all pretty p!ssed. I was about 17 or 18 at the time and they all flirted with me and apparently quite a few of the women 'hung out' with him....

Anyways after they heard my story absolutely no one would talk to the guy or spot him, etc....he was sort of outcast and later on in the locker room he and I talked. He was actively having sex with many of the single women there (he was a well built and good looking guy, plus a cop which I guess a lot of women like) and it was all dried up for him. It went further as the story got out to the clubs/bars he hung out at and they were giving him the cold shoulder. He gave me a lecture about the speed I was going despite 'no one being on the road at the time' (it was a 6 lane expressway with no exits/on ramps during the stretch I pulled the run)....so he told me he would get the ticket thrown out and I should elect for a hearing. I had to undo whatever I 'did' he said, and I did and he got back into the social mix.

I did and he was not there....the ticket was dropped. This was about 1989-90....now I hear (and experienced) that the cop doesn't have to show up...I don't know if that is constitutional, but I was sort of guilty the next time anyways and the judge did allow my own reported speed to stick (I pled I knew I was doing 10mph over the limit, the cop had put down 16mph or whatever the one that really screws you was, plus he put down it was a school or construction zone which is wasn't and the judge knew the area wasn't)....so I got out of that one with a minor ticket + $50 or something for court costs.

Most of the time in the 1966 GT I would get stopped but issued only warnings. My 1988 GT was the opposite, I'd get pulled over doing nothing and harrassed. One night while delivering Chinese food (I had the freaking old school sign that took up most of my hatchback area) I got stopped at 1am, ordered to put both my hands out of the car, open my door from the outside handle, exit with my hands up, place them both on my roof and spread my legs wide...then the cop shook me down and had me there for over 1 hour. I have no idea what the problem was put I didn't even get any warnings or tickets. The manager called the station about the harrassment and how it caused a very good customer who placed a large order ($80 or so, it was a night a fight or game was on) to be very angry with the restaurant and would not sign for his food. He told them that none of his guys can eat there for free for a month (the never charged the cops and we'd even deliver to them free sometimes).

After about 26 or so I started watching my speeding more.

Driven, about 115-120 in my 300M, around 105-110 in my old Grand Am (governer kicks in around that speed. My grand am wouldn't have gone much faster, however my 300m has plenty of power to spare)

About 75-80 on an old 1973 Yamaha GP440 snomobile. That thing was freiking awesome. It felt a lot faster

Passenger, around 115-120 in my uncles Grand Prix

Hit my fastest speed Sat in my 91 Accord SE. 105 in a 65 on the highway, and it was pretty scary. The car was jittery and the road wasn't very smooth either so that didn't help. I let off fast afterward. The cool part is the car would have gone faster, I didn't have my foot on the floor! the speedo shows 130 but up until then I never thought the car could actually go that fast!
Top speed for my 1966 AMC Rambler was 90 in a 45. That was pretty scary too! That was with the old 232ci straight six engine too. With the new 287ci V8 I put in should haul like a mother now! Bwahahahaha!

The damn car has a higher top end speed than a Mustang Cobra.

Well,... at about 145 or so there was a slight turn on the highway and then the back end of the car lifted off the road,....

and we slid for about 100 yards under a barbwire fence. Sparks flying every where. We hit about 3 t-posts,.....

it kinda sucked.

$5500 in damage done to the car.

That's how I got my bodykit.

Speed kills. Lets be careful out there. ;)

Damn you're pretty lucky to still be around. That fast in the snow/rain is absolutely mad.

What's so special about this post? I'm not an expert on bikes but I know that there are sports bikes out there that could easily do these speeds...

~100hp can't go 185mph. The speedo may say it, but the proof is in the pudding.

oh ya, not to mention the other stuff, in parody no doubt.

Top speed 155mph.. okay I see :)

As for running from cops, I wonder how many of those guys actually get caught. I mean, most cop cars can't get anywhere near fast enough. If they didn't get your plate # what can they do? The guy turns right/left a few times and he's gone.

I dunno, I think he might have been serious.... At least trying to sound serious in trying to impress us. He picked the wrong bike to lie with.

240 kph in a mercedes... loved the Autobahn.
In the states... 115 mph, but I'm probably going to have to cut back as I just got nailed for going 100 in a 70.

The GSR 600 can do about 155 stock....many people hot rod their bikes just like cars. Getting an extra 20-30mph up top should be doable.

Guys that put thousands of dollars and hours of labour into a vehicle(which is what you'd need to make a 600 go 190mph), don't run from the cops. Ever. :)

I actually have a video to disprove that - and it's a gixxer doing 190 or something close.... But other than that, I agree with you. The guy who posted here was all BS.
