From that i press the start button it takes about 2 minutes for me to reach the desktop with all the startup programs loaded. With XP it is much faster ofcourse.
Is there any program similar to BootVisXP for win2k?
2 minutes is an awfully long time. You must have a lot of programs in your startup folder? My win2k pro does not take too long to load. But it's not as fast as XP of course. Not sure about BootVisXP prog.
Look under Administration Tools and check all the services that you have running at boot-up. I have just about everything non-essential stopped and disabled. I can't believe all the default W2K services that are running. This might help your boot-up times also.
I'm down to 85 sec now (from start button to the desktop fully loaded), not to bad 😀 I defraged and removed some stuff from the startup folder. I only got like 4 progs in there now (not counting in run key content in the registery)
Ahhh...a BootVisXP for 2k would have been nice though. 😛
I havent timed it however it takes a while ... first it initializes the 2 regular hard drives, than it detects the IDE raid drives, then it detects the scsi drives, then once i see the windoze screen, i know its only a few seconds away ...
