How fast does your laptop hdd get bad sectors?

I have IBM A31P that has had bad sectors twice already. First is 6 months after I bought it. A year later another bad sectors.

It's using the 5400 RPM one. The good thing is I have 3 years manufacture warranty so they will replace for it. The bad thing is I have to reinstall the whole thing.

So I would like to know how fast your laptop get bad sectors.

Hey, I have a sager NP 8886 running an interal 40GB 4200RPM 8MB cache HD... I know it sucks but... no problems with bad sectors and I'v had it since November 2002

No bad sectors here and my laptop recently turned 1. Although it is now out of warranty, dum dum dum. Maybe your laptop isn't getting enough ventilation?

nope, it's getting more than enough ventilation. I actually added few fan around it to make it cooler.

I guess it's just IBM. What kind of hdd do you have? I mean the brand

The hard drive in my Inspiron is a Hitachi.

that's what I though. Other brand is ok but not the IBM one. that's why they merge with Hitachi.
