How fast does USPS forward mail to a new address?

I moved from my apt to my parent's house, since I'm leaving for AF Basic Training in 7weeks. To date, I still haven't received any mail from my apt. I could just call the apt manager and borrow the key to the mailbox, but I want to make sure that USPS has started doing it.
