I placed an order for a base config S10 with a sleeve and was quoted shipping in 4 business day, but is that an under or over estimate? I will be leaving for a business trip the end of next week and hope that delivery will fall before my departure :(

Call them and see if you can't get your order sped up a bit ... I've managed to get my Lenovo Outlet order upgraded from 4 weeks to a few days that way. Just say that you're extremely dissatisfied, mention the business trip, w/e. It's worth a shot.

They are pretty good. I had the opposite problem. I ordered my Lenovo notebook, and based on their projected ship date, I scheduled a trip.

Then I got a notice that it would ship (early) and would arrive while I was gone. I called and we put a 5 day hold on the shipment. :)

Urgh it's now pushed back to 3/19 est shipping...I may just go ahead and cancel tomorrow :(

Edit: by the way what the heck is wrong with Lenovo? In my order confirmation email I was given an invalid email address for sales support question, and their sales support number only runs until 7pm EST and there was no mentioning of when the call center closes in the automated voicemail system. The sales order status page is extremely bare with no updates. In addition I never received ANY follow-up emails notifying that the ship date on my order has been pushed back. How the hell do they manage to push products out to customers?

I just read that the CEO of Lenovo got fired - they last over 50 mil. That could have an effect on function efficiency. Maybe someone got laid off in the shipping department.

Finally got ahold of them and was told that it's out of stock with no definitive availability...very excellent customer service, Lenovo. Can't even bother to send an email to tell your customers about this very interesting tidbit of information? Oh well, at least cancelling the order wasn't so painful. Will probably just order from Amazon - it's in stock over there.

Lenovo expedited shipping is quoted from when it reaches the desitnation country. ALL Lenovo laptops come from China/Taiwan. Supposedly they are working on a factory in Mexico IIRC to help with shipping.

I ordered a lenovo from newegg last week and it still hasn't been shipped even though I was charged. Newegg sales reps tell me that "we're just a reseller" and won't ship until THEY get it. I don't know what to think at this point. I assumed when placing the order that if Newegg shows an item as available, it means it's in THEIR inventory and not just referring to an order that I could have placed with lenovo directly. Sure, I saved about $300 by going to newegg with the configuration I ordered, but it's a little frustrating having absolutley no sense of when I should expect the package to ship.

After I cancelled it I went ahead with Amazon instead. It looks like they do have them in stock...also ordered a 6-cell extended battery off eBay for $62. Hopefully all will be well come next week.

Ahaha oh man. Just got an e-mail:

Thank you for shopping at Newegg.com.

Unfortunately, one or more items in your recent order cannot be shipped and is now backordered. Items may become backordered as a result of an inventory miscount, if remaining inventory is found to be in unacceptable shipping condition or for various other reasons.

The remaining item(s) on your order will continue to process. Please review the content below for more detail.

Figures.

They're reimbursing me for shipping so that's cool.

Anyone ever experience backorder from Newegg? How long does it usually take?

Ok, so apparently, they screwed up bigtime and ended up voiding my original order. Re-ordered today and it's already been charged and shipped. Previous order indicated that the laptop would ship from CA. Now it's saying that the most recent order shipped from NJ. Totally weird. They must have had a temporary inventory glitch the day I placed the original order. QUite annoying. They refunded my shipping costs, so that's cool.

On a side note, my original order was over $1,000. The laptop was under $1,000 so I added some extra stuff to qualify for no interest for 12-months on my preferred account. Because the laptop was voided and they refunded the price to my preferred account, The Preferred Account people were very accomodating and allowed me to get 12-months interest free on just the laptop which I just ordered.

...the plot thickens. Now Newegg shows a $180 price drop on the unit. I initated a live chat and they agreed to refund me $180 once it ships.

See, this is why Newegg is so great. They'll screw up, but they sure know how to make the situation right.

Totally. My S10 shipped from Amazon this morning. Got a shipping notification and a working USPS confirmation #, even when the original shipping estimate was 3/23.

My S10 better be the best netbook I'll ever own or else this will be the last Lenovo I own. I know what I've been saying about Lenovo may make me seem like a whiny little b*, but what happened to me doesn't seem to be a unique case and I really think they've dropped the ball recently. I just hope that the hardware build quality is still as good as the old IBM days.
