GTX980TI got faster memory bandwidth than GTX1080.

GTX1070 uses 8Ghz GDDR5. So bandwidth to processing power the GTX1070 is better on than the GTX1080. In other words, bandwidth is the least of the GTX1070 worries.

What is that faster memory bandwidth?

ps. I think that NV made sure that you can't catch up to the 1080 by simply overclocking the 1070.

Hmm... how so?

GTX980 Ti = 337 GB/s
GTX1080 = 320GB/s
GTX1070 = 224.4 GB/s

1080 is around 42% faster in terms of memory bandwidth than 1070. In terms of other specs there will probably only be a 25-30% difference at best between the two. So I don't think 1070 is better balanced

980 Ti and 1080 are roughly on par, 5% difference isn't huge. Remains to be seen how the significantly less memory bandwidth will affect 1070 if it's as fast a 980 Ti / Titan X on paper.

A 1070 should be bottlenecked by it's memory bandwidth... based on the specs given. Unless NVIDIA has improved their compression algorithms, I doubt there will be an improvement over a 980 Ti...

What? 1070 is 256bit 8Gbps and that works out to be roughly 272GB/s. How did you arrive at your figure?

8Ghz memory with 256bit is 256GB/s

Thanks I don't know how I could've slipped up so badly.

ps. I was sure I had seen 8 Gbps figure in the anandtech's article but it seems I remembered it wrong. I actually saw that 8 gbps number thrown around here and my memory played a trick on me.

Yeah, 8Gbps GDDR5 for the 1070 is speculation based on it appearing to be available. May turn out to be correct, may not be. - we'll find out in a couple weeks.

Marketing is one thing but lying your shareholders is not the best thing you can do.

It's not a lie like I said. It's just spin or saying things in the best light.

Although still lol at people constantly going "OMG, it's the law!!!!"
Like laws have never been broken, especially in the financial field. Some of the conversations I've been a part of while working in the financial field just lol.
Next thing you know you'll tell me politicians are never corrupt because it's against the law too.

I sure hope the GTX 1070 isn't 8Ghz GDDR5 that actually is 7.5():)

Sorry, couldn't resist!:cool:
