How fast could they travel on "impulse power" on Star Trek?

techs

I remember Picard (or maybe Geordi) telling Scotty impulse power hadn't change much since the days of tos.

Did they ever say how fast impulse power could move you? Could they go from planet to planet within a solar system in say, hours, on impulse power? Or did they have to warp between planets?

Basically, how fast is impulse capable of?

Techs, to answer all your STNG questions, buy the "Enterprise Technical Manual"

I had it when I was like 12, right before I grew pubes. It answers all the questions about how transporters work, warp speed, replicators, inertial dampers. etc etc

If you want it, I actually still have my near mint condition copy on a bookshelf in my basement. $20 shipped.

Holy shit. I thought they shut down angelfire last year! Or was that geocities?

They were supposed to. I just realized this and thought 'uh oh" I did it again! (cached old site) but low and behold you can see it so it's still there! :awe:

In a book (The Destiny trilogy) an NX class ship was able to use impulse power to accelerate to near-light speed and travel at relativistic speeds.
