How fast are you guys running your T-birds at? Is anyone running one stable over 1,300Mhz?

I finally got my T-bird 1.1Ghz today and installed it to MSI KTPro2a. I used my auto pencil and did the trick and popped it in together with the retail HS/fan.

Well, I started the multiplier at 11, 11.5, 12, and all the way up to 12.5 (100Mhz x 12.5 = 1250Mhz) without even changing the voltage.

Now, I am curious to how fast others are running theirs at. I considered changing the FSB, but I have some bitter experience from pushing K6-2 & PIII too much on VIA boards, registry got messed up, and ended up reinstalling the Windows.

Well, let me know.

I will check Overclockers.com as well.

Im running my 750@1102 10.5x105 = 1102mhz You could run your fsb at 105 no problem if you have good ram..It will help your performance bigtime. BTW what else do you have in you system??

I started playing with the FSB. But it seemed that 1287.5Mhz (103Mhz x 12.5) was the best I could get. It's kind of stange that the chip which does 1250Mhz stable at default and run 3Dmark in a loop can only get 37.5Mhz extra even increasing the voltage to 1.85V.

It might be true that 0.18 T-bird core is getting maxed out. I need to get a better HS/fan to check it out further. (I sold my Alpha with my PIII 700@933 :( )

I am going to play with it a bit more by lowing the multiplier and increasing the FSB. In a meantime, I am going to enjoy this 1 1/4 Ghz processor.

Im currently running my 700@850 and 1.70V. Won´t go any higher on that volt. Haven´t had time to fiddle around with higher volts and the FSB settings yet. This is on MSI KT7Pro2a and molex cupper-cooler.

Ok I have something to ad. The fastest tbird I have heard of ran at 1500MHz and that was with Liquid Nitrogen cooling.

It seems to me that the heat is a major problem after going over 1,250Mhz. It post at 1312.5Mhz no problem but it shuts off before seeing the Windows bootup screen, or it fails to detect the boot drive.

It might be the time to contact 2Cool.

I got my 1 gzh running at 1.3 ghz, air cooled only. but if i play like 8 games of quake in a row, it sometimes will lock up. I think it is heat related, so my watercooling final parts arrive tomorrow!

I can tell that I would also need an Alpha to cool it better, but I refuse to put Delta on it. My computer is already loud enough for my taste even with all the quiet fans and a silent power supply.

I've been testing one that's sold at 1325 for several hours now. :)
12.5 x 106
It's a bummer when you max out the multipliers on the mobo and all you have left is fsb. ;)

MSI K7T Pro2, GW FOP32.

is the extra 20 or 30mhz worth the trouble for upping the fsb to 102 or 103? seems like thats the highest mine will go in terms of fsb.

I wonder what could be done with T-bird overclocking using the KT133A??? (9.5*133=1264) And since the Athlon gains so much performance from high FSB speeds, it'd be nice to have that as option for overclocking as well. Maybe VIA will allow us to change FSB speeds with the KT133A.

hmm changing the fsb is something the motherboard maker implement not via. And I dont see why you could not change the fsb with the kt-133a.

www.overclockerz.com sells pretested 1.4ghz birdies that only need good air cooling, not even water or peltier. Ryan (the owner of the store) runs one of them in his personal rig. Lucky SOB =O)

MikeA, that store sucks. There were threads of people having all kinds of problems there,
then they looked like they cleaned it up, but again lately, people getting products way late, product misrepresented, doesn't work as advertised, etc.

Always check reseller ratings.

Not only that but MikeA is a schill. He plugs them on his website.

Well my bad then. Didn't know the store sucked, I posted news about that store twice. It's not my site but I think they did send us something so I was just "returning" the favor by posting some new stuff the store had. I knew the store had probs when first starting out, thought they fixed that bs, but guess I was wrong. Didn't mean to mis-inform anyone or do any damage here. Thanks for checking out the site wiz, sorry to hear about your Tbird frying =(

All ment well,
