How fast and by how much will the Geforce 2's fall in price?

I need a new video card, and the Geforce 3 is absolutely out of the question. Obviously the Geforce 2's are going to start dropping in price with the release of the Geforce 3 and also seeing as the Kyro II can compete with them at a price of around $150.

So, how quickly do you guys see the Geforce 2's dropping and to about what price range will the 32 or 64 MB GTS's or the PRO or the Ultra drop to?

great question, I'd like to know the same thing.. I'm about to build a new system, I'm buying the chump stuff now thats not going to drop in price any time soon (case, keyboard, sound card), saving the ram, cpu, mobo, vid, hdd for last since they drop daily in price..

looking to get a GF2 and I sure hope the GF3 makes them drop price quick!

I love my Detroit Tigers :)

Exactly, I'm trying to hold off as long as I can because I want the good performance for a reasonable price.

if anything only the ultras will drop in price becuase the ultra is within the Geforce3's price range..the GTS wont drop by much because it is a no brainer for those who are hell bent on getting a decent nvidia branded card without shelling out the mucho dinero for a high end card.

Yep, methinks JayPatel is correct. Don't expect anything drastic when the GF 3 is released...gonna take several months for even the midline GF2s to seriously drop in price. My guess anyway.

Here's the problem with hoping GF2 prices will drop: In the fall, when the DirectX 8-REQUIRING games start showing up, you will NEED a GF3 to get any sort of decent eye candy/performance ratio. Suddenly, that "cheap" GF2 won't look like such a good value.

With the Decal Stay mod and the new 436 patch and OpenGL renderers for UT, I was getting waaaaaaaay over 100 fps (spectator mode) and averaging ~70 fps in 1024x768x32, high detail, everything on.

I'm gonna sit back and wait for the Fall version (GeForce 3 Ultra?) cards and the >1.5GHz CPUs to be bargins. I'm good for now.

Heh...

...for me though, I currently have a voodoo3 3000, and my game of choice is Tribes 2, so I really need something that can do OpenGL quite well fairly soon. I know it will probably take a while, but I can always hope and maybe there will be a hot deal somewhere.

I doubt they will get significantly below $100, but they have been readily available for around $150 for some time. The Kyro II certainly looks good, but there is no question nVidia's driver support is the most robust in the industry.
