How fast actually DVD-RW drive compare with CDR-W?

I just wondering because they said about 1x speed.
is it the same like 1x speed in cdrw or not? or it's double or triple the speed?

I believe a DVD transfers data at a speed 8-9 times as fast as a CD, so 1X DVD is at least 8x CD. I think they discussed the burners being at 1X and 1.5X, so the data would transfer that much faster than a CD. It is important that you look at the fact that there is ALOT more data to be burned onto a DVD, so if you are burning say a 2 hour movie onto a DVD and it takes the whole disk, it will take two hours to burn it.
