How fast a P3 can I put in this BX board?

I got an Gigabyte GA-6BXC ver 1.7 and I want to put a P3 850 (in a SECC 2 cartridge) in it. The 2.0 version of the board manual shows you a jumper setting for the multipler of 9.5 but the 1.7 version manual only shows a 6.5 multiplier setting. However the settings do not overlap so I can pick the 9.5 setting using the 1.7 board.
Both boards say that the board can only go upto 633MHz.

Anyone know the answer or where I can find this info?

(Before someone tells me that since the manufacturers site says 633 so that is the limit; the reason I ask is because I have a 900MHz in abit BH6 rev 1.0 and abit's site says 700MHz is the highest it will go.)

Not an intel expert, but i believe all intel cpu's over 800 will auto detect multiplier. That is what my 440bx says in the bios update anyways.

True, JustStarting. He cannot change the multiplier no matter what the multiplier settings offered by a mobo. It will automatically default to whatever the CPU's multiplier is meant to run at. In this case, 8x and will not change. Killerdcc, try either mobo and play with the FSB settings.
