Your high school offers that?!?!? Wow!! They didn't have cool stuff like that when I was a kid.

From what I understand, entry-level certs are considered "a dime-a-dozen" in the industry so do not expect much. But, a cert is better than no cert and a good step in the right direction. I would not pass up an opportunity...

Good luck!

Seriously consider some college man, even a 2 year degree will be a start....At least thats what my research in the matter has led me to think

Denny's is running a special. A certificate and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee.

It really won't get you too far. Certificates are supposed to supplement a college degree, not replace them. You might land a decent job, but I doubt you will climb the ladder of sucess in the future.

Getting one of those in high school shows motivation. While it may not land you that posh Net Admin job you want, it shows an employer that you have the drive to succeed. The certs are a supplement to an education. Get as many as you can. While many may say that it is a waste of time, they are not. Employers will see you as an employee that is willing to stay up on technology, even if it a piece of paper. But remember, always find some way to back it up with practicle experience.

I have a HS degree, a little college, and 4 years Air Force. Left the service in 1998. I am now a supervisor at a major telecom company, doubled my salary from the AF, and have increased in this company 35% from the day I started 2.5 years ago. Could have gone into the engineering side but decided to go management. The Air Force got me in the door but my hard work and work ethic got me the rest. All you need is a foot in the door and hard work will get you the rest.

You got that bound to a macro yet? or are you just very good with your hands?

I am going to follow the 'tea-boy' technique for career improvement.
