How far is your commute to work?

Looking to find out how far all of you commute to work. I used to be about 10 minutes from work. Since I have been laid off though, I am looking for a new job and some of these positions are a little further away. Just had a interview at a company that is about 30 minutes away from my house. Not bad I guess.

I only live 2 miles from the airport so my commute is really short. In the summertime I ride my bike through the forest to get here. Anchorage is nice like that... half city, half forest... nicely intertwined.

It is approximately an hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic right now. I can't wait to sell our house and buy my mother-in-law's house. It will cut my commute down to 30 minutes.

I've stopped caring. It all depends on whether I drive or take mass transit.

You are either really bored during your commute, or a statistician! How does one have their commute time analyzed like that?

...what is your standard deviation? Maybe that 55 min. is an outlier and should be disregarded...

About 12 minutes, unless I get stuck behind a school bus or dump truck.. I go down an unmarked road so the limit is 55, but these guys like to do 30.

Riding my bike - about 7.75 miles in around 30-35 minutes in the morning and 25-30 home

Driving - about 6.5 miles in 15-20 minutes in the morning and 10-15 on the way home

You want more?

Actually, the southbound (morning commute) is slightly easier than the northbound (evening commute). The standard dev for morning is 5.11 mins while evening is 5.95.

The 55 minute is probably an outlier (2 big crashes) but there are a number of 45-50 finishes as well.

The total number of data points is about 200 so the numbers are pretty robust.

I actually have split time stats for my commute too - spliting the commute into 7 sections. Each one has some interesting stats on its own.

and yes, I am REALLY bored during my commute :p

You know there will be responses like this: my laptop is plugged in and sits on the table next to my bed, so my commute is zero - well, it involves sitting up in bed and reaching my arm out. Obviously I work at home (my main job).

Each week I take a 2.5-hr flight to my client site, where I work for the week and then take another 2.5-hr flight home for the weekend...

Once at the client site however, my hotel is only 10-15 mins from my office...
