How far do you live from where you "grew up"?

Wherever you considered your primary residence as a child, how far is it from your primary residence now?

In my case from the Bay Area to San Diego is ~500 miles.

I'd say that I grew up in two places. I was born in Queens, NY and lived there until I was 10. Then we moved to South Florida and I've been here ever since (25 now).

Edit: I'll be moving to Orlando later this year, but my ultimate goal is California (not sure where, San Diego is sounding nice lately) or NY (Brooklyn or Manhattan).

Not at all. Some of it's pretty upscale city life, some of it is sadly the ghetto (with lots in between).
