just got a 24in lcd......its about 2 feet alway and i hate it. the text is either too big or too small and the pics are way to small. ohhhhhh i might even go back to the 7 year old dieing crt.

24inch Dell 2407wfp, about 2 feet away. I love it, beautiful screen. Much better than my older 22" Mitsu Diamondtron CRT

24" Dell Widescreen. About 2 feet away, hate it because it makes my 52" big screen tv suddenly look small...must resist urge to upgrade to 61"....

2-3 ft away from a cheapo 22"ws.

OP: you got a better screen, now you need better eyes 😉 FWIW, you'll soon grow accustomed to it.

A bit more than 2 feet away from 24-inch Dell 2407WFP-HC. But I am cheating.

As I am highly myopic and also presbyopic, I would have to sit about 15 to 18 inches away to easily see the native 1920x1200 resolution. This is uncomfortably close.

So I have made myself a nice big 1360x850 custom resolution (NVidia Scaling) which allows me to push the screen back.

This is also a compromise I had to negotiate with my wife who first wanted to push the screen even further away, where 1280x800 would have been required for me to be able to read small text.

Yes I know that it would be better if I could use the native resolution.

I'm about 2 feet away from my Dell 2407, which is a bit close, but the best I can do with my cheap college apartment-furnished desk. It's kind of cool for games though as it takes up almost my whole field of view.

its just that i have been use to a 21in crt up in my face because the tube was pushed agaisnt the wall and my keyboard was actually a little under it then that was the edge of my desk. now i got the lcd as far back as it can go and the no matter what i do the texts are always too big and small or just right and small. on some websites i cant seem to adjust the fonts and make em bigger. most of the texts will get bigger but some of the smaller texts stay the same size and i can hardly see them and it hurts my eyes. and its super bright too. but i am speechless im not use to colors this rich and vibe. my old crt was really getting dull.

Unfortunately, due to the way many web sites are programmed, changing font size in a web browser doesn't change all fonts. Some sizes are hard-coded. I read that Firefox has better options in that respect, but I don't use it.

You could also try a lower resolution, such as 1680x1050, to check if you could reach a better compromise.

As for brightess, you can reduce it through your monitor's OSD to bring it to a comfortable level.

BTW, what is your LCD? On my 2407WFP-HC, I have lowered brightess to 45, and each of the RGB colors to 82, because the monitor was almost fluorescent at default settings.

Run it in 1280x800 mode (native pixel-doubling mode), and it will look fantastic.

I still have an old 19" Samsung LCD that has served me well. I'd guess I sit 2' from it if I had to wager a guess, maybe 3? Depends what I'm doing (watching anime vs reading forums).
