How far can you push Crucial PC2100 in general?

I have an Epox 8RDA and 2x256MB stix of PC2100, right now I'm running dual ddr of course with the most relaxed timings (optimal mode, 3-3-3-2.5 i think). Would it be wise to push the timings harder? Or does crucial pc2100 run @pc2700 well?

I've figured that running at tighter timings won't help much because I'm running a GF3 and I doubt its going to help games much.. while a GF4 would do alot more for me. And if its hard on the memory its not worth it.. but I could be wrong! Someone also said running my memory in sync mode (266/266) with the system bus is the best way to go.. if I had a newer athlon (333fsb) then pushing the memory woudl be worth it.

BTW I have a palamino xp 1700+
thanks in advance!

YMMV x 2. :)

Some PC2100 may actually be rebadged PC2700...the same way CPU makers mark fast wafers down so they can meet the market needs for slower chips, some memory manufactureres do the same w/memory.

For example, I have two sticks of Crucial PC100 CAS 2 (yes, PC100 for an older board) Guess what? Both sticks do PC133, CAS2 all day long. Literally. They are in my FTP server, which is on 24/7. :)

The only way to find out is to try and boot your PC2100 at 166MHz and see what happens. I would lower the timings way down first. CAS 2.5, 3-6-3, etc. Low timings. Try it and see what happens, that's the only way you'll find out what THOSE TWO sticks will do. :)
