Alright, I'm going to recieve some nice 2x 512mb sticks of OCZ pc4000 gold VX memory from a contest I won a few days ago, sometime this week.
Now I've read reviews that say this thing is a voltage hog (obviously since its a voltage extreme memory)
My motherboard only supports up to 3.25volts and I know that in order to achieve a FSB of 250 at its rated timings of 2-2-2-8 for that speed, you need like 3.3v. Sooo, since my motherboard ( MSI 848P Neo-V ) has only 2 dimms, I can not add a ddr booster to help me get those extra volts out of it. I'm going to save up and buy a DFI Lanpart4 eventually so I can use the memory's full potential, but in the meantime I want to push these sticks as far as I can.
At a 230-240mghz FSB, at lets say 2.9-3.1v do you think I can maintain timings at 2-2-2-8? or is that asking a bit much?
also, lets say I push the ram to its rated speed ddr500, (250fsb), do you think at 2.9-3.1v I can get some decent timings out of it, such as 2.5-3-3-8?
This is kind of a ridiculous question, but lets say I just wanted to make it run at it's rated speed, not caring how loose the timings are, am I capable of doing so at less then 2.75v?
Thanks for any advice and input
