Hi All,

I'm a noobs O/C
Help me out here.

Just got my new Barton 2500+ with EPOX 8RDA+
the problem is I have PC2100 RAM.
Do you think how far can I go?

Right now I'm running at 200x10 = 2000mhz
try up it before, but doesn't work :(

If I want to upgrade my RAM, any recommendations?

UPDATE: I can't get the Windows Update working :(
It works fine in my old machine :(
Any idea what's wrong?

hi

:)

yeah... pc2100 = 133

you maybe able to squeeze out like 166 if you're lucky with really loose timings...

try upping the mult and using 133 as the fsb...

for memory... i'd recommend at least pc3200

hmm.... i dunno what to recommend considering that i'm still looking for some good ram as well but i'm looking to get at least pc3500...

corsair xms 3200 is good stuff low latency and normal latency...

you can also try getting some kingston hyperx pc3200 or even 3500.... i believe best buy has the 512 megs of the 3500 for about $100 right now...

yeah... :)

I have the same set up but I have Cosair PC 2700.

I got the mem up to 183 mhz, however if you are planning to upgrade go with nothing short of PC 3200, its worth the extra cash.

I think I could get the mem up a lil higher if I tweak the voltage. Its running pretty loose timings, but I'm not sure what they are.

I get around 15k with default clock settings in 2001,

Sandra 2003 I think my mem scores where ~2788/2654

When I uped the mem and OC'ed the 2500 to 2.2 gigs (183x12) I got 16800.

So you can see that the board and the CPU are capable, you get you some solid PC 3200 ram (the Twin Cosair is the best if you have the cash, so I have heard) you should be able to get a nice OC.

Hopefully with a lil voltage tweaking I can get my box over 17000 marks.

That may give you an idea of what to expect although I'm not sure what you have in regards to Video.

Just upgraded my mem to the Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT.

I should be able to get 200x12, hopefully.

Just got my new Epox 8RDA+, Barton 2500+, and 512MB XMS3200 Corsair x 2. Ends up one stick of the ram was defective (returning it now for exchange). But even with the defective stick, I got 11.5x198FSB (2.29Ghz as reported by Sandra). Was stable except for 3DMark2001SE (which was caused by my bad stick of RAM). Temp under load was 41C-42C with a Volcano 11 and at 1.75v. Couldn't get anything stable past 198FSB though. Not sure if it's my RAM, but I suspect it's the vdd voltage issue (starting to contemplate doing the mod).

When I get my replacement RAM I'll see what she really can do.
