how far away do you sit from your monitor?

how far do you sit form your monitor?

reach with both arms towards your monitor and extend your fingers like you were going to touch it (without moving your shoulders for longer reach).

do your fingers just about touch the monitor, or is the distance shorter / further ? by how much.

some ergo stuff ive read says 15-32" with an average recommended of 25" or basically one fully extended arms length away.

i was having problems seeing my 2005fpw, but i think it might have been the fact that it was one arms length + 12" away. i brought it up to one arms length away and its no longer a problem, sure feels wierd though.

i guess it has to do with the size of your monitor as well. larger size monitor -> should sit further away

probably close to 2 1/2 feet, my bro moved in and the only desk i could fit in my bedroom was his...which has a monitor stand on the back corner, and since i dont sit up straigh and right on top of the desk,. its a bit far. the last desk it was right in front of me (about an arm length) and this is uncomfortable for a 17 " crt :/

The real issue is, do you sit straight in your chair while viewing it from that distance. If I slouch as I usually do, I'm usually about 3/4 arm's length away. But of course that's hard on the back as well as the eyes. I'm half-blind though, it's hard for me to see from much farther away, even with a 19inch CRT at 1152x64 and with my glasses on.
