Well been using my undervolted setup for a few days now and I can say the main difference I see is how my cpu fan doesn't spin up as much anymore. Used to kick in for a minute under high amounts of multitasking, such as downloading heavily with my Agent newsreader, watching a dvd, and doing some web browsing. Note this on AC where the cpu is allowed to clock up automatically. With batteries, I don't notice anything significantly increased, but then I always have had my battery setting to throttle at 600mhz and not move up. Regardless, undervolting is great since it doesn't cost me anything and just the little less heat causing the fan not to spin up was more than worth the effort.

When you have tijme, you might want to update it with the instructions for using the new interface of RMClock 1.6 and 1.7. This link shows the changes.

Also, there might be one more thing to watch out for when undervolting. If you're messing with the fan speed as well, make sure to monitor the HD temp also to make sure the HD isn't overheating while the fans are off because of a cool CPU.

Thought I would reserect this thread with a small comment on HD temps. I've been undervolting mine for a few weeks now and I've noticed even under full load that the HD is running 3-5C cooler. With no undervolting it was running 42-44C and now runs 36-39C depending on what it is doing.

I'm running a Dothan 1.5 at 0.956V. Under full load (running Seti CLi) the fan only kicks in about once every 10 minutes.(peaks at 65C, then down to 45C, then slowly up again) At standard voltage it would kick on after about 10min and run constantly at low speed. So it appears that even with the fan running less, the entire system is running cooler than it used to.(Inspiron 8600)

ressurecting this thread is not a bad idea.

I have mine running at 1.132, which is about the lowest I can take mine before it craps out. It is a 1.6ghz dothan pin-modded to run at 2.13.

I could run my old 1.6 730 at 1.1, so there's not a big difference. Runs between 34-38c

I have a Sony Vaio S with a Pentium M 715 (1500MHz Dothan, 400MHz FSB). It doesn't undervolt nearly as well as I expected:

6 0.764 (Prime errors right away at 0.732, BSOD at 0.700)
8 0.844
10 0.940
12 1.052
15 1.196

I just keep it at the lowest speed most of the time (600MHz) because that's the only one that works without the fan having to turn on.

I have a Satelite R15. 1.6Ghz P-M @ 400mhz FBS, down to 1.004V and 800mhz @ .700V. Batterylife is 4-5 Hours now with a 6-Cell battery and half brightness. Low brightness levels gets it to 6 hours. Undervolting is worth it considering less heat, less power, and gets even quieter when the fan isn't needed as much.

I have the following voltages, each torture tested with Prime95 for stability for a few hours apiece:

Clock Stock Stable
1.5 1.340 0.940
1.2 1.228 0.828
1.0 1.148 0.764
800 1.068 0.700
600 0.988 0.700

Really low, I'd say. Now I get 4.5 hours on a 14.1" R50e and the CPU temp doesn't exceed 45C :) The fan rarely kicks on now.

any ULV P-M's here?

i'm running a 1.2 ghz dothan on a fujitsu p1510D tablet.

stock = 600mhz@0.812v

will give this undervolting a shot, mainly for the heat.

.716 @ Min
.940 @ Max

It can do better, but I'm too lazy to test it for no more gains. Point being, I got an excellent undervolter.

Scouzer tell us how you did that!! Please.

Did you take the processor out and put it into a desktop board and go from there? How'd you do it?

I just downloaded Notebook Hardware Control, put everything to 0.7 and kept upping it until it stopped crashing...then I put it up one more level above the first stable level.

Idle temps are around 29 degrees.

I didn't do anything special.
