How expensive are brand name PSU's these days?

Currently I have a Channel Well 420 watt PSU and I'm thinking about getting a Antec or Enermax or Thermaltake. First off, what is the bare minimum I would need to use p4 2.4B, 1 DVD, 1 CD-RW, 1 80 gb WD, Radeon 9700 pro? What is the price range for these PSU's(so I don't get ripped off)?

Actually the Channel Well Tech is a decent PSU,it may not be the best but it`s not bad,and your current 420w is more then enough for your hardware.

Spend the money on something else unless your PSU is giving you problems,I bet it`s not ;).

Btw review here of your CWT 420w PSU .

I'm really satisfied with the performance of the CWT420. While I can't tell you how long it'll last, per se (as I've only used it for a few days myself) I can say that so far it's been doing its job well. The final decision is undoubtedly the price: if you can get this unit cheaper than any Enermax or Sparkle or Enlight, go for it.

I've got an antec Truepower 330, which I bought atnewegg for about $60 shipped a few months ago. Works pretty well, but the voltage is a little flaky (not bad enough to make anything unstable though) and the thing "sings" - one of the fans in it emits an intermitent, high-pitched whine that annoys the heck out of me, so I'm probably going to replace it later this summer with a Fortron P300XFPN . Question is, is this enough juice for everything I've got running in this system? it's the Bebop rig in my signature; nothing in it is OC'd.

EDIT: After looking at your rig XSauronX, I guess it would be :D. What's that lite-on PSU sound like? I might check that out for $20.

Nothing wrong at all with Channel Well. You do know that's who makes Antec's powersupplies? (At least up to the TruePower series, I think the jury is still out on who makes those.)

Btw in the review it does say,

As a matter of fact, the CWT-420 is the Antec PP412X! Or, to put things in a more logical context, the Antec power supply is a renamed CWT-420! This is a top notch unit and is respected by many even more so than the Enermax line.
They also make the Chieftec PSUs I believe.

You still want to replace it?
